This professional development session supports K-12 educators in preparing for and responding to the new NY Inspires climate education mandate by integrating sustainability and climate science into existing curricula across all subject areas. Designed for educators at all grade levels and disciplines, the workshop combines individualized application with collaborative learning. Participants engage in group work that encourages shifts in pedagogical thinking, enriched by the diverse perspectives of interdisciplinary and cross-grade colleagues. Individualized attention and work allow educators to tailor strategies and resources directly to their unique classroom contexts. Participants will build foundational knowledge of climate change causes, impacts, and solutions by exploring standards-aligned resources connected to New York State learning standards. They will identify practical entry points for embedding climate education into current units of study across content areas. The workshop emphasizes place-based learning, community partnerships, and interdisciplinary approaches, equipping schools to meet state expectations while creating meaningful, real-world learning experiences for students.
